 The Significance of Political Parties
The meeting recommended that within one year of the March 12, 2001 presidential election, the Democratic Party and all Political Parties building on a democratic foundation must be able to select, announce and prepare a candidate for the 2006 presidential elections.
The meeting urged the Democratic Party United States of America (DPUSA) Chapter, to be more vigilant, be present and alert in the field, particularly by opening itself up to party activism all over the world, and working hard to register new members from the Ugandan Diaspora.
Such reform meetings, he said were held in Kampala, Mpigi and Mbarara, [as they are abundantly projected in the Report On The Democratic Party Leadership Renewal Process of November 11, 2000, which was compiled by Mariano A. Drametu, the Secretary General of the Democratic Party].
