Uglich is one of the ancient towns of the Upper Volga region.

Uglich was slowly restored; however, the XVII-XVIII centuries was a time when wonderful architectural ensembles were constructed -- the monasteries of the Apparition of Christ, of the Resurrection, of St Alexius, the church of the Nativity of St John the Baptist, and the church of the Virgin of Khersonesus.
