		The low peaks of the Gwangju Mountains shape the local landscape.
		Rail transportation is an important part of Uiwang, which is home to the Korean Railroad Museum and Korea National Railroad College.

		Uiwang is one of the many satellite cities surrounding Seoul in its metropolitan region, though admittedly one of the lesser-known ones.

		Uiwang may develop only 7 percent of its 54 square kilometers (20.8 square miles) — the rest is protected "green belt land," as demarcated by 1971 legislation — and Shin seeks to avoid urban congestion by regulating the number of stories per building and curtailing population growth.
		In order to comprehend the severity of environmental problems and make the connection between overconsumption and pollution, Shin believes people first have to see (and, in some cases, smell) the most affected areas — and then they understand that citizen involvement in ecological issues is critical to reform.
