Ulsan, a metropolitan city in the south-east of South Korea, lies on the Sea of Japan (East Sea), 70 kilometres north of Busan at the geographical location 35°33′ N 129°19′ E.
In the past the city operated as a major center of Korean whaling, which led to its selection as the site of the June 2005 International Whaling Commission meeting.
The city hosts the K-League soccer club Ulsan Hyundai Horang-i and the University of Ulsan.

Life in Ulsan is good, the weather has been amazing, we had our first night of rain last night in about four weeks.
This is due in large part to the rapid growth the city experienced after the Hyundai Automobile company decided to locate its manufacturing plant in Ulsan and the city grew very quickly from a sleepy fishing port to a large city of over a million people.
