Ultima VII is the seventh of the cardinal parts of the Ultima series of computer role-playing games.
In Ultima VII: The Black Gate (1992), two centuries have passed since the Gargoyle threat was solved and the Avatar is suddenly whisked into Britannia by a red moongate.
Forge of Virtue was an expansion pack that adds a quest to Ultima VII in which the Avatar must pass a series of tests to revalidate himself in the three principles of Truth, Love, and Courage, and destroy the last remnants of Exodus.

This expansion to Ultima VIII was planned from the outset, and was much anticipated, but never released; it was cancelled when the main game didn't sell as well as had been expected, despite being all but finished and ready for duplication.

New to Ultima IX is a toolbelt for quick weapon equipping, using potions, etc. The mouse is used for controlling the viewpoint, but whenever an item is picked up, the old mouse interface for moving objects with the little "hand" is still there.
Ultima IX draws you in with a great story, a good interface, terrific gameplay, and graphics that, under proper conditions, create the mysterious and enchanting world of Britannia with more success than perhaps any game has ever had at creating its setting.
Ultima IX is the legacy of gaming companies focusing more on the dollar than the quality of the product: an 'A' game murdered by an 'F' game's bugs.

Ultima IX is the last of the Ultima games and the last in the Guardian Trilogy that started with Ultima VII: The Black Gate.
It wasn't until Ultima IV that you became the Avatar and your job was to protect Britannia.
One is because its an Ultima game and I kept thinking that it would get better and the other reason is because while I was playing it I was also writing a Walkthrough for it.

 About Origin's Ultima Series
I'm a member of UDIC (Ultima Dragons Internet Chapter) a group of people who are supposed to be crazy about the Ultimas.
I had felt that Ultimas should be similar to Wasteland (I guess I overlooked the fact that only the top-down view was being compared) where the meaning of life wasn't to kill monsters and get powerful weapons, but to interact more with the world.
In the third Ultima, there is much more interaction with the people than the previous ones, and there is still the food problem, except that you can make money by creating and deleting characters.
