Ultra HD is the proposed replacement for existing high definition television (HDTV).

There are alot of buzz and PR going around regarding High Definition and esepcially HDTV, HDDVD, Bluray and etc. So my main question is that what kind of technologies would be likely to be the successor of High Definition in 10 years time.
Add to that UHDV's beefed-up refresh rate of 60 frames per second (twice that of conventional video), projected onto a 450-inch diagonal screen with more than 20 channels of audio, and you've got an impressive home theater on your hands.
High definition can emulate high resolution film, which is a great 2D representation of reality.

Forget viewing video but this would actually work if the GPU would perform all graphics processing and the CPU would only inform the GPU of what windows should be updated or moved.

For those that don't know, interlacing is what RS-170 NTSC video does to make the resolution appear higher by send the frames all even scan lines then all odd.
This is a real problem when trying to grab a still image from video, when playing video on a non-interlaced display and when trying to compress video.
An NTSC video frame is 640x480 pixels, where all odd lines are 1/60 of a second behind the even lines.
