Malibu Comics - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Malibu Comics was a comic book publisher in the late 1980s and early 1990s, best known for its Ultraverse line of superhero titles.
The Ultraverse line was launched during the "boom" of the early 1990's, roughly concurrent with the debut of publishers such as Image and Valiant, and new superhero lines from DC and Dark Horse (Milestone and Comics Greatest World, respectively).
Emphasizing the tight continuity between the various series in the Ultraverse line, Malibu made extensive use of crossovers, in which a story that began in one series would be continued in the next-shipping issue of another series.

A pioneer in multimedia technology for comics, Malibu worked with Adobe to develop the process of computer coloring for comics, which is now the accepted industry standard.
The first Image comic, Youngblood #1 (later the foundation of the Awesome Comics line), was the first independent comic to become a number-one seller, and, thanks to Image, independent comics have been a fixture in the top ten sales lists ever since.
Today, Marvel Comics and Rosenberg are working together to develop the Malibu characters for a variety of film and television projects÷including Prime, in development at Universal as a feature film÷which Rosenberg is executive producing.

Ultraforce followed the Justice League and Avengers model, chronicling the adventures of a team consisting of heroes who all had their own solo books and a few lame filler heroes that rounded out the roster.
Some background on Malibu Comics and their Ultraverse may be in order.
But as my man Roger Ebert says: "A [comic] is not about what it is about, but about how it is about it." Writers Goyer and Johns, with art team Stephen Sadowski and Michael Bair, cheerfully deliver a simple tale about one hero beating the shit out of the bad guys who are hunting him.

Camelot In Four Colors, Part 3
While some comics creators have been interested in telling stories about the traditional Arthurian figures, others have drawn inspiration from the legend in creating their own characters.
Among these have been a Justice Society of America story (All-Star Comics) illustrated by Wally Wood (who illustrated Arthurian stories in EC Comics' Valor and who also worked briefly on "Prince Valiant"), as well as an adventure of Swamp Thing which is discussed in in Part 4 of this survey.
According to Pure Excitement Comics, the Sword was young Arthur Lake, who secretly kept the magic sword Excalibur embedded in a stone.
