This manifests partly because in the U.K. this show was considered a "series"; whereas, in the United States, it's a "miniseries" that had to be repackaged to fit the format.
Ultraviolet leaves ample plot threads dangling, although after two years of relative obscurity, a sequel to this series seems unlikely.
At one point Fox was developing a U.S. TV series based on Ultraviolet, but the project seems to have been put on the back burner.

Ultraviolet (TV serial) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ultraviolet is a 1998 British television serial written and directed by Joe Ahearne and starring Jack Davenport, Susannah Harker, Idris Elba and Philip Quast.
A modern retelling of the vampire myth, Ultraviolet revolves around a government-funded paramilitary organisation with connections to the Roman Catholic Church fighting a secret war against a worldwide vampire conspiracy.
The term "Code Five" is often substituted (a visual use of the Roman numeral V is the closest the series gets to citing the word "vampire"), as is the slang "leech".

Ultraviolet (film) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ultraviolet takes place in the late 21st century, in the years following a global pandemic of a blood-borne, highly infectious disease known as hemophagia.
As the events of Ultraviolet only span a single generation as opposed to the decades-stable post-apocalyptic society of Libria, it is possible that Hemophage reflexes and stamina are necessary to perform Violet's version of the techniques.
Ultraviolet had doubtlessly inherited many core plot elements from movies like Resident Evil (which Wimmer is said to have watched immediately before writing the movie) and Doom, in which a secret lab discovers a way to genetically manipulate human beings.

The vampire legend's gothic trappings are stripped away in Ultraviolet, a six-episode British TV series that brings a distinctly modern slant to an oft-told tale.
The key to the series' unusual flavor is the absence of supernatural explanations: These vampires are biological parasites, and while the CIB fights to protect mankind from falling one rung down the food chain, the vampires are well-organized, well-funded, and use bioengineering to protect their food supply.
Ultraviolet is a heady mix of quickly cut scenes and rat-a-tat dialogue, with the big picture coalescing at a gradual but enticing pace.

Ultraviolet was conceived as a miniseries, and while the individual episodes don't cross over in the main storylines (except for the last two), subplots weave throughout, making this a six hour long movie.
