In the sport of cricket, bowling is the action of propelling the ball toward the wicket defended by a batsman.
An infamous "underarm bowling" incident occurred during a match in 1981,in which the bowler took advantage of the fact that underarm bowling was still legal by rolling the ball along the ground.
As a result of this incident underarm bowling was subsequently made illegal in all grades of cricket, except by prior agreement of both teams, as it was not considered to be within the spirit of the game.

The most direct way is for the bowler to bowl the ball in such a way that it evades the batsman's guard and hits the stumps, dislodging the bails.
Additionally, as in professional cricket it is common for balls to be bowled at over 90 mph (144 km/h), the game needs to be played in daylight that is good enough for a batsman to be able to see the ball.
There are two main kinds of bowlers: pace bowlers, who attempt to bowl the ball too quickly for the batsman to properly react, and spin bowlers who bowl slower deliveries that bounce and curve in unpredictable ways.

Underarm delivery should be used when the batter is very young, as it allows the bowler to control the ball in a manner which will allow the inexperienced batter to get the feel of the game.

With underarm bowling it could not have been of any consequence and we may safely say that it played no part in cricket before the legalisation of overarm bowling in 1864.

By the time Pate readied himself on Monday morning for the competition at Princess Bowling Lanes in Whitehall, the pure odds of human history dictated that he should have been dead, or if not dead, then at least lacking the cognitive or physical means to compete in any kind of exercise.
Bowling on Monday, Pate only showed emotion when something went wrong: a missed spare in the second game prompted him to jolt his right arm toward the sky, a karate chop of disgust.
