In its 1966 season, the show moved to CBS, and the back-up segments were replaced with fresher material — Go Go Gophers (a new segment about a two-gopher Native American tribe resisting a two-coyote cavalry) and Klondike Kat (in only its first rerun, sort of a cross between Dudley Do-Right and Tom & Jerry.

Jill Sobule : Underdog Victorious - Listen, Review and Buy at ARTISTdirect   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-20)
Underdog Victorious, her first release of all-new material since 2000's Pink Pearl -- she put out a retrospective the following year -- features all of the sarcasm, wit, keen observation, and big-sister charm that fans have come to expect from the tenacious New Yorker.
Sobule is a true pop aficionado, and her melodies have never suffered from the run-of-the-mill, singer/songwriter trappings of the genre, so when she builds an entire song off of the piano riff from Chicago's "Saturday in the Park" -- the ludicrously catchy first single, "Cinnamon Park" -- it never feels calculated.
It's this homegrown accessibility that provides much of the aptly titled Underdog Victorious' engaging warmth, and besides, it's hard not to root for an artist who closes her record with a surprisingly heartfelt and genuine ode to misery without sounding the least bit whiny.

Both underdog and top dog come from the lingo of dog fights in the late 19th century.
Although the expression is originally American, the first recorded use of underdog to describe people is found in a British newspaper: "There is an indefinable expression in his face and figure of having been vanquished, of having to succumb, of having been 'under-dog' as the saying is" (Daily Telegraph, 1887).
In 1892 underdog appeared in another British newspaper, looking like the noun we know today: "The mission of the Democratic party is to fight for the under-dog" (Daily Chronicle).

Above all else, "Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story" is a genuine crowd-pleaser (given one isn't easily offended), more than willing to be downright sophomoric in the name of garnering big laughs.
Although there are a fair share of comedic misses, and at least ten too many ball-in-the-groin-style jokes, writer-director Rawson Marshall Thurber has filled his screenplay with enough clever one-liners, downright outrageous asides, and off-the-wall surprise cameo appearances that it is easy to wade through the rough patches.
As seems to usua lly be the case with comedies, "Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story" hits some potholes as it nears its finish.
