John Cage - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
However, Cage’s friends, Yoko Ono and John Lennon, released a piece entitled “Two Minutes Silence” on the album “Life with the LionsUnfinished Music Part 2” to no apparent lawsuits.
Cage described his mother as a woman with "a sense of society" who was "never happy." It was not obvious from his early life that he would become a composer; he was born into an Episcopalian family, and his paternal grandfather regarded the violin as the "instrument of the devil".
Introduced to it by Christian Wolff, Cage began to use the I Ching in the composition of his music in order to introduce an element of chance over which he would have no control.

After both Lennon and Ono were injured in the summer of 1969 in a car accident in Scotland, Lennon arranged for Ono to be constantly with him in the studio (including having a full-sized bed rolled in) as he worked on The Beatles' last album, Abbey Road.
The press was extremely unkind to Ono, posting a series of unflattering articles about her, one even going so far as to call her "ugly." This infuriated Lennon, who rallied around his new partner and said publicly that there was no John and Yoko, but that they were one person, JohnAndYoko.

Lennon v. Levy -- The "Roots" Lawsuit
The album "Imagine," Lennon's best seller to date (sales in 1975 of over 1.5 million) and his three worst-selling albums, "Two Virgins," "Unfinished Music No. Two: Life with the Lions," and "Wedding Album" (each of which sold between 20,000 and 50,000 copies) were all disregarded, presumably as aberrations.
At the time damages were determined, the album had been out for over a year, and had sold 342,000 copies in the United States, despite generally unfavorable reviews, despite the album not being new compositions and despite a recession that caused record sales to be down generally some 15-25%".
In discussing the condition of the "Roots" cover and record, the judges said that the out-of-tune track and indistinct voices were "reasonably clear even to appellate ears unused to Lennon's style of music".

In May 1969, the Zapple label was inaugurated by two avant-garde solo Beatles releases, the first of those being John Lennon and Yoko Ono's Unfinished Music No. 2: Life with the Lions, the second George Harrison's Electronic Sound.

Though some of the album was indeed recorded in Brautigan's kitchen, all the actual tracks were done at Golden State Recorders studio in San Francisco (where Miles was recording albums by Brautigan, and beat literary giants Michael McClure and Lawrence Ferlinghetti, simultaneously).
But then the Blue Meanies struck, and the album never would come out on Zapple, as "the Zapple label was folded by Allen Klein before the record could be released.

 LA Weekly: Music: Get Back
The Get Back/Let It Be project coincided with the beginning of Johnandyoko, and the two were deeply involved with various “avant-garde” recordings that were to be the basis of their Zapple LPs, Unfinished Music No. 2: Life With the Lions and The Wedding Album.
Engineer Glyn Johns had first been tabbed to turn the Get Back/Let It Be tapes into an album, and his three passes at the job were rejected by the group (and have only recently surfaced as bootlegs), so Lennon’s move was perhaps a last-ditch attempt to tie up a loose end before leaving the band.
It was January 1969, a few months after the release of the Beatles’ eponymous “white album.” John Lennon was Beatled-out, and Paul McCartney was trying to elicit enthusiasm for a new project: Get Back, a no-studio-frills album, and a film documenting the making of it.

UNFINISHED MUSIC NO. 2: LIFE WITH THE LIONS
Although this is a live recording, and it’s unlikely the pair was working from sheet music, it’s clear that they went into this performance with a good idea of the type of sounds they were going to make.
Two Virgins was easily dismissed as folk art, a single concept (What is music?) not so much explored as stretched out in an interminable question.
The Rykodisc reissue includes two bonus tracks: “Song for John” (think of it as Yoko’s take on Lennon’s “Julia”) and “Mulberry,” a nine-minute piece that features Yoko’s interpretive vocal wails and John’s guitar tunings (a la “Wild Honey Pie”).
