		The Ukraine Media Partnership Program (UMPP) recently completed its fifth year of developing long-term professional partnerships between US and Ukrainian media outlets.
		Nelea Lupu had no idea what she was getting herself into when she agreed to lead the Moldova Citizen Participation Program (CPP) project to renovate a senior citizens’ home in the western Moldovan city of Ungheni.
		Despite having minimal experience running such a home and even less experience with community development, Nelea threw herself into the project for the simple reason that no one else was willing to take the lead.

	Interesting things about Moldova
		The bridge is situated in the Ungheni city, near to the border with Romania.
		From 1918 till 1940, when the Ungheni railway station was under Romanian jurisdiction, it was named Vasile Lupu station (after on of the Gospodar, king of Moldova) the gauge was for the first time, and transformed to narrower one.
		In July, 1940, when the territory goes to Russia, the narrow gauge was changed to broad one and the Ungheni name is returned to railway station.

	Mures County Council
		Ungheni is situated on the middle stream of the Mures River, where the Niraj River runs into the Mures River, 11 km away from Târgu Mures, on the international European road E 60, Târgu Mures - Cluj Napoca.
		The devastating attack on Ungheni continued in 1848 from the Austrian army.
		On the 18th of April, 2004, Ungheni was declared town, its citizens hoping for a better future once with the opening of the Vidrasau industrial park, with the development of the airport and with the accumulation of further investments.

		Ungheni occupies 9% (2,605 sq km) of Moldova’s total surface and with its 283,000 inhabitants represents 8% of the country’s total population.
		The city is situated on the left bank of the river Prut and is approximately 105 km away from the country’s capital city Chisinau and 25 km from Iashi region – one of the large economic centres of Romania.
		Ungheni region is a rather industrialised with a number of large food processing enterprises, wineries and industrial factories.

		The Buciumeni geological outcrop (5 hectares) is situated on the left side of Girla Mare stream’s valley at 1.5 km to the south-east of the Buciumeni village, Ungheni region (X=27°43'30" Y=47°21'50").
		The Valcinet geological outcrop (2 hectares) is situated in the “Tofan” ravine to the south of Sipoteni village, Ungheni region (X=28°06'50" Y=47°16'10").
		The Paulesti geological outcrop (2 hectares) is situated in “Cimitirul cailor” stone quarry to the north-west of Paulesti village, Ungheni region (X=28°22'30" Y=47°16'30").

	Ungheni - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		Ungheni (population: 35,157) is the seventh largest town in Moldova and, since 2003, the seat of Raionul Ungheni.
		The first historical mention of Ungheni dates to 20 August 1462.
		There is a bridge across the Prut and a border checkpoint to Romania.
