  Mures County Council
Ungheni is situated on the middle stream of the Mures River, where the Niraj River runs into the Mures River, 11 km away from Târgu Mures, on the international European road E 60, Târgu Mures - Cluj Napoca.
During World War II, Ungheni was the stage of several battles carried out for the liberation of the northern part of Transylvania.
On the 18th of April, 2004, Ungheni was declared town, its citizens hoping for a better future once with the opening of the Vidrasau industrial park, with the development of the airport and with the accumulation of further investments.

It may be that Chişinău city has been split from Chişinău county, but until that supposition is confirmed, I'll continue treating them as a single unit.

Mures County Council established twinning relations with Gyor-Moson-Sopron and Szabolcs-Szatmar-Bereg Counties from Hungary and with the Shanxi Province from China and maintains relations of colaboration with Lecce Province from Italy and with the French locality Montigny-le-Bretonneux.

The Jehovah's Witnesses Association reported one case in Hunedoara (Hunedoara County) where a child member was subject to the threat of not graduating unless she attended the Orthodox religion classes.
The church of a famous Greek Catholic Monastery of Nicula (Cluj County) is in a similar situation.
In mid-March 2002, in Ocna Mures (Alba County), the Orthodox priest along with a group of believers occupied by force, at night, with the help of the police, a church restituted by court ruling to the Greek Catholic Church.
