The Chairwoman of Unia Pracy (Labour Union), Izabela Jaruga- Nowacka, became again the vice prime minister, a minister – member of the Cabinet in the government of Marek Belka.
In the period of 1993-97 she was a deputy of Unia Pracy.
In the Parliament of the II tenure she, as one of two women-deputies, became a member of a delegation of the Parliament to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

On 7 January 1993, the lower House of the Sejm voted 213 for, 171 against, 29 abstentions on the bill abolishing abortion on demand introduced in Soviet-controlled Poland in 1956.
