The left-wing Sojusz Lewicy Demokratycznej (SLD) (Democratic Left Alliance) and Unia Pracy (UP) (Union of Labour) coalition won 41 per cent of the vote in the 2001 parliamentary elections, defeating the Akcja Wyborcza Solidarnosc (AWS) (Solidarity Electoral Action) (5.6 per cent).

Once upon the time, there was in Poland party named "Unia Wolnosci" ("Freedom Union" or "Liberty Union"), which I was a member of.
Also, I managed to convince my younger brother to join it.
Unia Wolnosci lost parliament elections, and, Platforma Obywatelska is now spotted to be winner of next parliament elections

Government: The parliamentary elections of 23 September 2001 ousted the ruling right-wing bloc comprised primarily of Akcja Wyborcza Solidarnosci (AWS, Electoral Action Solidarity) and also the Unia Wolnosci (UW, Freedom Union), architects of Poland's post-Communist free market reforms.
The largest percentage of the vote was won by the electoral coalition of SLD, previously the main opposition party, led by Leszek Miller, and the non-Communist socialists of Unia Pracy (UP, Labor Union), led by Marek Pol.
The far-right Unia Polityki Realnej (UPR, Real Politics Union) recently elected Janusz Korwin-Mikke—the UPR's founder and first leader in the early 1990s—as chairman, replacing Stanislaw Michalkiewicz who was elected in March 1998.
