The advantage of unibody design is that it is lighter (a chassis tends to be heavy) and absorbs the shock of an accident better.
Unibody vehicles are designed so that the entire vehicle absorbs the force of an accident, thus they are more difficult to repair afterwards, but at the same time, they are safer.
The biggest disadvantage of a unibody design is in places where salt is used on the roads - you cannot just replace many of the panels, when they rust out, and must instead patch them.

Unibody platforms have spurred the growth in the SUV market, and in the future many of them will be sourced in North America.
Unibody construction is the dividing line between cars and trucks—that line continues to blur as more unibody platforms penetrate the truck market.
By 2006, unibody vehicles will account for nearly 17% of all truck sales and 35% of SUV sales, which means flat sales or a decline in market share for the traditional body-on-frame models.

 Auto Body | hyperlogos.org
When a unibody is damaged it may actually transmit some of the force to more or less any area of the car, and thus a relatively small accident can warp the entire body.
There are of course drawbacks to unibody vehicles; a unibody is much harder to repair than a full-frame vehicle and the force of a serious impact may leave no part of the car undeformed.
Unibody cars are however typically much safer than full-frame vehicles because they generally are designed with crumple zones which absorb the force of an impact because they are more willing to deform than the rest of the vehicle.

Since the unibody has now suffered damage equal to ¾ of its substructure hit points (a total of eight hit points of damage) the handling class drops by two more levels and the last two points of damage will be divided between armor/internal components and the substructure.
Unibody and frame vehicles without OR suspension that go off road suffer damage to their substructure hit points as well as underbody armor.

Genmab has recently developed UniBody™, a new proprietary antibody technology that creates a stable, smaller antibody format with an anticipated longer therapeutic window than current small antibody formats.
Genmab believes its UniBody technology has the potential to expand the market for targeted therapeutics, in particular for some cancer and autoimmune diseases.
The UniBody is also about half the size of a regular IgG4 antibody.  This small size can be a great benefit when treating some forms of cancer, allowing for better distribution of the molecule over larger solid tumors and potentially increasing efficacy.

Frame rails were used for the front section extending from the front jacking points to the floorpan transition point separating the front and rear seat areas.
Unlike American design used with the Chevy II and Nova cars made by GM, and the Falcon made by Ford, the Hillman front fenders were spot welded on, adding rigidity and strength to an already strong design.
Unlike present day cars, the first Unibody designs were not made to "crush" on impact in the case of an accident, and the sheet metal used in Audax bodies was thick gauge.

Technology Review: A Practical Road to Lightweight Cars
There are two competing possibilities: a unibody, short for "unitized body," the design used for steel automobiles; or a space-frame design, essentially a large truss structure covered with a thin skin.
In a unibody, the vehicle's body panels are joined together to form a shell structure.
If designers attempt to circumvent this problem by using materials that are easier to form, the second problem arises: because the unibody derives most of its structural performance from the way its parts are attached, those parts must be composed of materials that can easily be joined.
