United Artists Films, Inc. (aka United Artists Associated, United Artists Pictures, and United Artists Corporation) is a movie studio and a subsidiary of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, Inc., which is owned by Sony Pictures.
United Artists recorded a major loss for the year; to Transamerica, it was only a blip on a multi-billion dollar balance sheet, but it soured the relationship forever.

The name is taken from the three companies that formed a corporate merger to create MGM Studios in 1924; Metro Picture Corporation[?] (formed in 1915), Goldwyn Picture Corporation[?] (1917), and Louis B. Mayer Pictures[?] (1918).
In 1986 he underlined that statement by selling the studios to Ted Turner, who was primarily interested in gaining the rights to the MGM movie archives.

In 1976 United Artists Television brought a test case against a cable company owned by the Fortnightly Corporation, alleging that the cable company infringed on the copyright to a motion picture when its cable system imported distant signals carrying the film.
