Canadian Friends of the International Christian Embassy's Correspondence with the Government of Canada regarding UN Resolution 3379 - The United Nations and Israel
The Secretary of State for External Affairs, the Honourable Barbara McDougall, has asked me to reply to your letter of June 1, 1991, regarding Canada's position on the repeal of the odious 1975 United Nations (UN) General Assembly "Zionism is racism" resolution.
In his last speech to the United Nations General Assembly in September of 1990, my predecessor, the Right Honourable Joe Clark, stated inter alia that Canada abhors: 'such blemishes on this Organization as the odious Resolution equating Zionism with racism, passed 15 years ago by this Assembly.'
On behalf of the Honourable Lowell Murray, I acknowledge receipt and thank you for your letter of June 1, 1991, with attachment concerning the United Nations Resolution 3379.

UN General Assembly Resolution 3379 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
United Nations General Assembly Resolution 3379, adopted on November 10, 1975 by a vote of 72 to 35 (with 32 abstentions), equated Zionism with racism.
Even though the Resolution 3379 has been revoked, the fact that it was passed and stayed in force for 16 years is often cited as an evidence of the United Nations Organization's deep prejudice against the Jewish state [1], [2] and gave an additional impetus for calls to necessity of reforms within the UN [3].
Majority votes of various UN agencies and bodies continued to assert the phrase "Zionism is racism" as the consensus in their agendas and conclusions, reflecting persistence of this view despite the annulment of the resolution.

A non-racist Zionism? (by Mohamed Sid-Ahmed) - Media Monitors Network
Observers believe that Israel's determination to oppose any reference to, let alone a re-tabling of, UN General Assembly Resolution 3379 equating Zionism with racism, which was adopted on 10 November 1975 and annulled on 17 December 1991, has been instrumental in determining the US position.
How can the United Nations, which has issued countless resolutions condemning doctrines of racial differentiation and superiority as morally reprehensible and socially unjust, refuse to even consider a resolution equating Zionism with racism?
The United States and a number of former European colonial powers are also opposing calls by many former colonies that the conference address the question of reparations for the suffering they endured at the hands of their colonial masters and their demand that its closing statement include an apology from the concerned Western powers.

The Waterglass: 30th Anniversary of UN General Assembly Resolution 3379
General Assembly Resolution 3379 was the world body's "single worst decision," John Bolton said Thursday at an rally sponsored by B'nai B'rith International marking both the anniversary of the infamous resolution and the United Nations' 60th anniversary.
Even John Bolton, who's not generally known for his diplomacy, is being somewhat delicate here; to many of us who have seen the UN in action, it's not incredible that it took sixteen years to repeal Resolution 3379; it's just par for the course.
While the "Zionism equals racism" measure was repealed in 1991, the underlying anti-Israel animus that led to its passage still remains, Bolton said.

Of all the ignored resolutions passed by the UN against Israel, Resolution 3379 is the one that rankles Israel the most, perhaps proving the saying about the hurtfulness of the truth.
Indeed, Resolution 3379 referred back to the 1973 resolution condemning "the unholy alliance between South African racism and zionism," and to the 1963 resolution which determined that "any doctrine of racial differentiation or superiority is scientifically false, morally condemnable, socially unjust and dangerous."

The resolution consists of 15 articles, probably the most famous being Article 11, which calls for a conditional return of refugees from the war.
