The United Nations Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina (UNMIBH) is an international organization formed under United Nations Security Council Resolution 1035, as extended by Security Council Resolution 1357.
UNMIBH’s mandate is to contribute to the establishment of the rule of law in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) by assisting in reforming and restructuring the local police, assessing the functioning of the existing judicial system, and monitoring and auditing the performance of the police and others involved in the maintenance of law and order.
It has completed its mandate in December 2002.

According to the operational plan, which was agreed with a team from the United Nations Mission in Bosnia Herzegovina (UNMIBH), the SBS further plans to set up four more units in Bosanski Brod, Neum, Hum and Brcko in March 2001.
These forces, engaged in Bosnia and Herzegovina (Bosnia) and Croatia, are provided by 17 Member countries and include 2000 soldiers from 18 Partner countries to include a 1,200-strong Russian contingent.
SFOR has been one among numerous partners involved in supporting demining throughout Bosnia, a mission which mostly has been handed over to the entities.

 PRESS BRIEFING BY PRESIDENCY OF BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA
Thanks to the United Nations Mission now coming to a successful end in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the country was ready to take on its responsibilities as a stable force in the region, the Presiding Member of its Presidency told reporters at a Headquarters press conference this afternoon.
Responding to a question about the three-member Presidency, Presiding Member Mirko Sarovic said the structure was appropriate for the complex country and its ethnic mix, providing for equal representation of Bosnians, Croats and Serbs.  He was accompanied by Dragan Covic and Sulejman Tihic, the two other members of the Presidency.
Covic stressed that the Presidency's priorities were to create a strong government and judiciary, as well as to carry out economic reform.  The country would be a force for stability in the region, as its standards were modernized to the level of Europe and the wider world.

The United Nations Mission of Observers in Prevlaka (UNMOP) consists of 28 United Nations military observers (see annex) headed by a Chief Military Observer, Colonel Harold Mwakio Tangai (Kenya).
As the military threat in the area has decreased, UNMOP has experienced an increase in difficulties of a civilian nature, such as claims by local landowners and fishermen to make commercial use of parts of the United Nations-controlled zone.
