The Watchman Expositor: United Pentecostal Church
This ancient twisting of the Trinity has raised its head today in many cults, not the least of which is the United Pentecostal Church (U.P.C.).
In 1985 on the John Ankerburg Show, Rev. Nathaniel Urshan in speaking for the United Pentacostal Church and responding to Cal Beisner and Dr. Walter Martin, said "We do not believe in a three-person Trinity, we believe that Jesus Christ was God manifest in the flesh.
The U.P.C. teaches that God is one Person who manifested himself in the Old Testament as the Father, in the New Testament as the Son, and today as the Holy Spirit.

United Pentecostal Church - by Dr. H. Wayne House
What separates United Pentecostals from orthodox Christians are their concepts of God and their belief that to be saved one must be baptized in Jesus' name only and speak in tongues.
A year earlier, the birth pangs of the UPC began when R. McAllister asserted that the singular "name" of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit in Matthew 28:19 was Jesus and that, consequently, baptism should be done in the name of Jesus only and not in the three names of the Trinity.
The UPC also teaches that One-ness theology was taught by the early church until corrupt Christendom eventually repressed the teaching and misplaced (deliberately destroyed) the documentation that would prove that church fathers taught Oneness theology.

The UPC Manual states, 'In the year 1914 came the revelation on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.' "The 'New Issue' (oneness doctrine - jt) threatened to divide the Assemblies of God and the Pentecostal movement.
Unite!' This is how the organization came to be called the 'United Pentecostal Church.' W. Witherspoon sat down at the typewriter and wrote out a statement of the 'Fundamental Doctrine' of the organization, which still appears, exactly as he wrote it, in the 'Articles of Faith' in the UPC Manual.

It was not until 1945 when the two largest predominantly white Oneness Churches, the Pentecostal Church, Incorporated (PCI) and the Pentecostal Assemblies of Jesus Christ (PAJC), merged to form the United Pentecostal Church.
The two churches had been preaching the same doctrines; however, some of the steps to salvation were different.
The UPCI also adheres to standards of conduct that are similar to the standards held by the earlier Pentecostal Churches at the start of this century.
