 25th Infantry Division Association: The Division
The 25th Infantry Division was activated on 1 October 1941 at Schofield Barracks, Territory of Hawaii.
In 1941 its major units consisted of the 21st Infantry Brigade, comprised of the 19th and 21st Infantry Regiments; the 22nd Infantry Brigade comprised of the 27th and 35th Infantry Regiments; and the 11th Field Artillery Brigade, comprised of the 8th, 11th, and 13th Field Artillery Regiments.
During the period from the summer of 1966 to the spring of 1967 the 25th Division was the largest division in Vietnam with four brigades under its command, the division's 1st and 2nd Brigades as well as the 3rd Brigade, 4th Division and the 196th Light Infantry Brigade.

The 1st Marine Division, which MacArthur acquired from the United States, was augmented by the 1st Provisional Marine Brigade from the Pusan Perimeter and by a Republic of Korea (ROK) Marine Corps regiment.

D Troop was as an integral (TOE) part of the 3rd Squadron, 4th United States Cavalry, the 25th Infantry Division Armored Reconnaissance Squadron.

In the summer of 1985, it came to pass that my assignment to the 1st Squadron, 4th United States Cavalry, 25th Infantry Division, based at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii had been terminated.
This was due to the fact that the only 12 tanks in the Pacific Ocean had been reassigned out of the islands, therefore causing the unit itself to become reorganized.
In my case, however, it was decided to allow me to remain in the islands and meet the obligation I had enlisted for.
