USDB typically transfers prisoners to the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
USDB hangs on to these guys for 10,15 years and then ships them to the feds to make room for some newly convicted lifers.
I was a convict at the USDB from 91-94.

After the time in the museum, we spent some time outside of the museum reading the state historical sign and viewing the historical information kiosks located around post signifying the historical nature of different areas of the post.
As we moved north, we stopped at the location of the old United States Disciplinary Barracks and went to the historical information kiosk that described the old prison.
There is history of inmates that died or were executed at the United States Disciplinary Barracks that are buried there, including several World War II German Prisoners of War.

Sixty-five Soldiers from the U.S. Virgin Islands have received military corrections training and valuable experience at the United States Disciplinary Barracks the past two weeks while working alongside corrections specialists from the 705th Military Police Battalion.
The 661st Military Police Company, U.S. Virgin Islands National Guard, came to Fort Leavenworth for annual training July 9 and is the first National Guard unit to work at the USDB in three years.
Woodley said the members of his company, many of whom have already been deployed to support detention operations at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, were well-prepared for going behind the walls of the USDB - although some areas were new to them.
