California - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
California is a state spanning the southern half of the west coast of the contiguous United States.
In the middle of the state lies the California Central Valley, a huge, fertile valley bounded by the coastal mountain ranges in the west, the granite Sierra Nevada to the east, the volcanic Cascade Range in the north and the Tehachapi Mountains in the south.
The State of California is part of the Nearctic ecozone, and spans a number of terrestrial ecoregions, and is perhaps the most ecologically diverse state in the United States.

Encyclopedia :: encyclopedia : Interstate highway   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-01)
The numbering scheme for the Interstate Highway System (as well as the U.S. Highway System) is coordinated by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), though their authority is occasionally trumped by a number written into Federal law.
The state of California is now adapting to an exit numbering system after many years as being the only state in the country that did not use such system.
In most states, the exit numbers correspond to the mileage markers on the Interstates (with an exception being I-19 in Arizona, whose length is measured in kilometers instead of miles).

Marathon & Beyond -- The web site for marathoners and ultrarunners.
M&B is an international publication, with subscribers living in every state of the United States, all provinces of Canada, over a dozen European countries, Australia, and New Zealand, as well as places like Africa, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore, and—yes, now!—even Iceland.
In general, our readers fit the well-documented demographic profile of runners: they are well-educated, well-read, like to travel to races, and invest heavily in their gear.
The editors clearly state that this running publication has more lofty goals than to list and report on races, and it shows.
