While the studio tour actually does show visitors most of the Universal backlot (unless there is shooting going on that day in a given area), many tourists probably come away with the notion that the "studio tour" is essentially bogus.
That's because Universal has incorporated so many theme park rides and special effects into the tour, that's it's sometimes difficult to know where the rides end and the historical back lot begins.
Universal Studios Hollywood has taken to calling itself "the entertainment capital of the Entertainment Capital," and while their tram tour may not be completely authentic, it's hard to deny that this giant Tinseltown theme park is a lot of fun.
