The principal University research library is the Bodleian Library which dates from 1602.
Through the Oxford Digital Library the University is a leader in the digitisation of manuscripts and other library material.
Libraries in Oxford are linked in an integrated electronic library and information system which includes an online catalogue - The Oxford Libraries Information System (OLIS) - and provides access to both remote and locally-mounted electronic resources.

As of Wednesday, October 18, users of Internet Explorer (IE) on the Macintosh will no longer be able to access the University PIN system and therefore will not have access to PIN-based electronic resources at Harvard or to the "My Account" feature of the HOLLIS Catalog.
