 | | The UGC has constituted panels of experts in 28 subjects to advise it on measures to enhance the quality of teaching in their specific subjects, to prepare status reports regarding research and teaching facilities available in the universities and to indicate the thrust areas. |
 | | The UGC has a scheme of UGC Research Award, which is given by three levels, namely lecturer, reader and professor, allocating 50%, 30% and 20% to each of the categories, respectively, for a period, of three years and applications from the same candidate will be consider only after a period of 5 years. |
 | | The UGC has been seting up autonomous centres, from 1984, when the first one was established to provide common facilities for research, and for various services and programmes to the universities, since heavy investment in infrastructure and input is beyond the reach of the individual university to obtain these facilities. |
