 University Heights - City Overview
Each year, on average, about 300 people purchase single-family homes in University Heights, the community known throughout Cuyahoga County and beyond as the "City of Beautiful Homes." Many relocate to this city from other parts of the country, the state, or county for career changes, graduate training in the professions, and promising job opportunities.
Although originally named "Idlewood Village" at the turn of the century, it became University Heights in 1925 when John Carroll University, previously located on Cleveland's west side, began building its new campus here on the east side.
For all of these reasons, University Heights is a jewel in a suburban setting, a microcosm of America, a community of neighborhoods that is perhaps unique in striving to achieve the almost impossible - the familiarity of a small town within a major metropolis in a great nation.
