New York State is divided by the Department of Agriculture of the United States into three climatological districts: (1) the Hudson, Delaware, and Susquehanna basins, (2) the Allegheny River, and (3) the Great Lakes and the St. Lawrence.

 Columbia News ::: Preservation Division Receives Grant to Protect Rare Material
Materials will be drawn from collections at Columbia University, the State University of New York at Buffalo and other libraries in New York state.
"The New York State Grant Program has been immensely valuable in saving the cultural and intellectual heritage of the citizens of New York since it was established in 1984," noted Janet Gertz, director of preservation at Columbia University Libraries.
Cornell University and the State University of New York at Albany will contribute an additional 115 volumes.

The State University of New York (SUNY) is committed to the development of high quality distance education programs as a means of providing enhanced learning opportunities for both traditional and non-traditional students.
EngiNet is a cooperative project between the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at the University at Buffalo (UB) and the SUNY engineering schools at Binghamton, Stony Brook, and New Paltz.
This spring the service was expanded to include classes offered by the UB School of Nursing's Distance Education Program, which delivers graduate nursing instruction via interactive video to rural counties of Western New York through a grant funded by the New York State Department of Health.

The enormous social impact of the new state's vigorous policies toward nation-building and industrialization is studied in depth, as a foundation for understanding Japan's expansion in Asia during the 1930s and 1940s.
Applications are invited from all college and university students in the US and Canada who will have completed one, two, or three years of Chinese language study by the starting time of the program.
Intended as an introduction to the study of Asia, the minor requires either one year of the study of Chinese or Japanese language in courses at SUNY New Paltz, and one course in the civilization or culture of the country whose language is being studied, plus additional courses in Asian Studies to total 18 credits.
