The University is governed by the University of Arkansas Board of Trustees, which also oversees the operation of institutions in Batesville, DeQueen, Fayetteville, Fort Smith, Helena, Hope, Little Rock, Morrilton, and Pine Bluff.
The University of Arkansas at Monticello was established in 1909 by act of the Arkansas General Assembly to serve the educational needs of Southeast Arkansas.

The gubernatorial poll of 561 likely Arkansas voters has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.1 percentage points, meaning that Beebe's percentage could be as high as 51.1 or as low as 42.9.

 University of Arkansas System
While the University is a single corporate entity under the laws and Constitution of the State of Arkansas, the President, Chancellors, and Vice President of Agriculture delegate their authority broadly throughout the University and its operating divisions.
The Arkansas General Assembly established the University in Fayetteville in 1871 as the Arkansas Industrial University, and under the authority of the Morrill Act of 1862, it became the state land-grant institution and first state-assisted college in Arkansas.
In 1873 the University established a campus in Pine Bluff, which was designated as a land-grant campus of the University from 1875 until 1927, and then uniting again with the System in 1972.

The University of Arkansas was founded in 1871, under the Morrill Act of 1862.
The founding of the university satisfied the provision in the Arkansas Constitution of 1868 that the General Assembly "establish and maintain a State University." Citizens in Fayetteville and surrounding Washington County, raised $130,000 to secure the university in a statewide competition sparked by the General Assembly’s Organic Act of 1871.
The university is classified by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching as a Doctoral/Research University.

 Rock Art in Arkansas
Through a project called "Drawing on the Past: Educational Resources for the Study of Arkansas Rock Art", funded in part by a grant from the Arkansas Humanities Council and the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program, we created this Web site to provide information and educational materials on Arkansas rock art.
University of Arkansas graduate student Michelle Berg Vogel is also a member of the team.
