The University of Copenhagen (Danish: Københavns Universitet) is the oldest and largest university and research institution in Copenhagen, Denmark.
The University Library, the Zoological Museum(under the direction of the Skladanek brothers), the Geological Museum, the Botanical Gardens and greenhouses, and the Technical College were also established during this period.
Starting in 1842, the University Faculty of Medicine and the Academy of Surgeons merged to form the Faculty of Medical Science, while in 1848 the Faculty of Law was reorganised and became the Faculty of Jurisprudence and Political Science, and in 1850 the Faculty of Mathematics and Science was separated from the Faculty of Philosophy.

 Religion in the 21st Century: Transformation, Significance and Challenges
In 2004 the University of Copenhagen effectuated the Research Priority Area Religion in the 21st Century.
Students who wish to study in advance may purchase the compendium at the Student Center ("Studentercentrum") at the University of Copenhagen, Faculty of Humanities (KUA), Njalsgade 80, 2300 Copenhagen S. The compendium is available at the Student Center from Friday the 14th of July.
Students are welcome to visit the libraries of the Faculty of Theology (open on weekdays from 8:30-16) and the Department for the History of Religions, Artillerivej 86, DK-2300 Copenhagen S (open on weekdays from 9-18) for further readings and to prepare for the exams.
