East China University of Science and Technology (Chinese: 华东理工大学; pinyin: Hua Dong Li Gong Da Xue) is one of the state key university of higher education in the People's Republic of China, and one which is regard as the cradle of chemical engineers.
It was the first single-subject institute in China consolidated by the chemical departments of National Chiaotung University(http://www.nctu.edu.tw), Université d'Aurora, Utopia University, Soochow University(http://www.scu.edu.tw) and Yangtze University in China Eastern area at that time.
It was defined as the national key university by the Central Committee of Chinese Communist Party in 1960 and renamed as East China University of Science and Technology in 1993.
