University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore, commonly referred to as UET Lahore is one of the leading engineering universities of Pakistan, and the oldest of them all, offering Bachelor, Master, and Doctoral degrees in a variety of disciplines.
UET is a state university and the Governor of Punjab is the Chancellor of the university.
Although the university's educational and disciplinary climate has greatly improved during the past 8 years, the university was derisively called the 'University of Error and Terror' due to the rampant violence and strikes of different student political associations whose rule held sway over the entire university administrative machinery.

LAHORE, Nov 11: The Higher Education Commission has approved the policy of upgradation of the posts of university teachers by offering them one grade higher than their existing grades without any condition.
The meeting was attended by vice-chancellors of Punjab University; University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore; Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad; Fatima Jinnah Women University, Rawalpindi; Karachi University, Sindh University, Jamshoro; Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences, Jamshoro; Balochistan University, Quetta; Peshawar University; and University of Agriculture, Peshawar.
The Punjab University and University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore, have already adopted the post upgradation policy from Nov 1 and Nov 2, respectively.

ISLAMABAD, July 22: Higher Education Commission (HEC) has decided to establish a campus of University of Engineering and Technology Lahore at Kala Shah Kaku.
In the light of these decisions, the Higher Education Commission asked the universities to submit plans to increase present enrolment over the next 3-4 years, ensure that the increase in enrolment should be accompanied by continuous improvement in quality of education and research.
The UET‘s present campus at Lahore with limited space for expansion will cater for around 50 per cent increase in enrolment with focus on postgraduate programmes.
