The Technical University of Lodz is a strong scientific centre and one of the largest academic schools of technology in Poland with over 19 000 students, about 1 600 staff members including 250 professors.
Lodz RBO of EFB guarantees a strong cooperation with the Polish Federation of Biotechnology, which should contribute to admitting PFB members to EFB.
Lodz Regional Branch Office of European Federation of Biotechnology is administered and managed by Agnieszka Dawydzik, who is also the Co-ordinator of Centre of Innovation and Technology Transfer (CITT) at Technical University of Lodz.

The centre of the town, and the University quarter, still boasts a number of the fine houses they built, some of them now being carefully restored; others still hidden beneath the grey dust and neglect that seems to live over the whole of this region of Europe.
The four day event was hosted jointly by the British Council and the University of Lódz Institute of English Studies, represented respectively by Susan Maingay and Barbara Lewandowska, with assistance from James Melia, and took place in the University's recently constructed and comfortable conference centre.
Each day began with a brisk walk to the University's council chamber for a plenary session, held beneath the stern depicted gaze of assorted dignatories in funny hats, followed by parallel sessions at the conference centre, combining project reports and research papers from a wide spread of corpus applications and interests.

The University of Lódz is a member of the Conference of Rectors of European Universities (CRE) and the Association of European Schools of Planning (AESOP) Inter-University Centre Dubrovnik, and a co-signatory of the Charter of the Alliance of Universities for Democracy; it has also joined the GRUPO COMPOSTELA DE UNIVERSIDADES.
The Library of the University of Lódz was one of the first scientific libraries to be opened in postwar Poland and it was founded by the Organizational Committee of the University of Lódz.

Zachariasz attended the University of Lodz for a year and then went as an exchange student to the Soviet Union, where she earned a master's degree in European history.
Studying in the Soviet Union at the same time was Jerzy Zachariasz, whom she had known from the Lodz ghetto.
