The University of Minnesota Medical School is the medical school of the University of Minnesota.
One is located in Duluth, Minnesota, formerly the University of Minnesota-Duluth School of Medicine.
This campus has approximately 160 students in each of the first two years of medical school with a mixture of traditional medical students and students pursuing advanced degrees such as a Ph.D through a MSTP scholarship.

The medical historian Leonard Wilson, who wrote Medical Revolution in Minnesota: A History of the University of Minnesota, agreed in a conversation we had recently that the sale of the hospital was the single largest disaster in the hundred-plus-year history of the institution.
From its formation in 1888, the University of Minnesota medical school was a pioneer in fostering historic innovations in medical education and training.
Recovery from this "active neglect" began in the late 1920s, but the medical school never regained the elite status it enjoyed at the beginning of the century (it was once touted as among the top four or five medical schools in the country).
