		As a result, the Woman's College of the University of North Carolina was renamed the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and the University of North Carolina itself became the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
		The most enduring symbol of the university is the Old Well, a small neoclassical rotunda based on the Temple of Love in the Garden of Versailles, at the spot of the original well that provided water for the school.

		On October 12, 1793 the first cornerstone was layed on the building that is now known as Old East for the nations first public university.
		The University is one of the most interesting and enjoyable places to visit in the state because of it's historical buildings, beautiful gardens and it's trees, some said to be two centuries old.
		When I wander around I can't help but feel I am in the modern equivelant of Ancient Athens and the abundance of columns and neo-classic architecture adds to that feeling.
