In cooperation with the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Gifu and with the Department of Chemistry, University of Bremen, organic dyes are adsorbed at the surface of the wide- bandgap inorganic semiconductor ZnO during a one- step electrochemical synthesis [7-9,11].
The dyes are used to tailor the growth of the oxide films and serve as sensitising molecules for the conversion of solar energy at the films.
In a joint project with the Department of Materials Science, University of Darmstadt, the Hahn- Meitner Institute, Berlin and the Department of Chemistry, University of Bremen we try to utilize dye- silicon interactions in a somewhat similar approach.
