The University of Ouagadougou as well as CNRST are both under the umbrella of the Ministry of Secondary and Higher Education and Scientific Research (MESSRS).
The steering committee is composed of leaders of CNRST, the Institute of Environment and Agricultural Research (INERA), the University of Ouagadougou, the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, and a farmers' organization.
Twenty-three of the Nigerian universities have a faculty of agriculture and five have a faculty of veterinary medicine.Three are agricultural universities.

Upon the Leader's arrival at Ouagadougou University, he was received by President Blaise Compaore, Minister of Higher Education and members of the teaching staff at the Ouagadougou University.
The Leader of the Revolution greeted the large number of student who crowded to salute him whom were carried his portraits, green flags and placards expressing their delight for the presence of the Leader among them, welcoming his arrival and chanting slogans for his long life and that of the great al-Fateh Revolution.
Afterwards, the President of the University and one member of the teaching Staff at Ouagadougou University presented the Leader with the uniform of the university and awarded him the honorary doctorate.

Listed below are the recommendations of the action plan for strengthening the research performance of the University of Ouagadougou and the linkages between the university and the other components of the NARS of Burkina Faso.
Two groups of recommendations were defined: (1) those that strengthen the internal research performance of the university and (2) those that strengthen the external relationships of the university with the other components of the NARS.
Based on influencing factors identified in the analytical report on "Strengthening the Role of Universities in the National Agricultural Research System of Uganda", specific recommendations were formulated and intensively discussed and analyzed during the workshop in Uganda from 2 to 4 April 1997.

Ouagadougou, also Wagadugu, city in central Burkina Faso, capital of the country and of its Kadiogo Province.
The city is the site of the University of Ouagadougou (1969), several research institutes, a sports stadium, and the palace of a Mossi chief.
In 1896 the city was captured by the French, and it served as the capital of France's Upper Volta protectorate from 1919 to 1932 and from 1947 to 1960, when the country (now Burkina Faso) became independent.

The Burkinabe university puts a special emphasis on environmental studies and holds that wetland ecology is of vital interest for the nation and the entire water-scarce Sahel region.
Professor Prosper Zombré, coordinator of the university's superior courses, emphasises that "in the Sahelian countries of West Africa, wetlands are of great importance, in particular regarding pastoral and agro-forestry production and in safeguarding biodiversity." It was therefore necessary to continue educating capable local scientists.
After organising superior training in wetland conservation successfully for one year, the University of Ouagadougou holds that it is fit to provide regular higher education in the field.

The workshop is sponsored by the University of Wageningen (Netherlands), the University of Ouagadougou, Institut de Recherche pour le Développement (IRD-France) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
West African countries, with a combined population of 226 million people, face major challenges related to nutrition.  Nearly 35 per cent of children under five years of age are stunted, a sign of a chronically poor diet, while about 5 to 15 per cent of young children are wasted, a sign of acute hunger.
The Ouagadougou workshop participants will assess "food-based strategies" which mobilize the agriculture, food technology and education/communication sectors to promote the production, availability, access to, and consumption of nutritious foods.  They will analyse current knowledge and identify future needs to promote food-based strategies.

Thirty-two people, mostly students from the University of Ouagadougou and a few parents and educators came to visit the display of educational materials at the Open Doors.
The three guest speakers of the Forum on Education were directors of faculties from the University of Ouagadougou who were sent on International Visitors Program last January to visit American universities and gather some first-hand experience and facts they could use back home.

OUAGADOUGOU, Burkina Faso (Reuters) -- Several thousand people protested in Burkina Faso's capital on Tuesday against the closure of the main university and scrapping of the 1999-2000 year, witnesses said.
Opposition groups, teachers' unions and student associations took to the streets after rejecting the government's planned reorganization of the university in Ouagadougou.
The university was shut down in early October after months of student protests about grants prevented the completion of the academic year which the government then scrapped.

The centre was created in 1974 by the St Camille religious order and comprises a maternity centre, a health centre, an analysis laboratory for biological and biochemical examination, a centre for neonatal pathology, a greenhouse for growing the Spiruline (Figure 1) and a Nutrition Education and Rehabilitation Centre (CREN).
The values of the composition of the Spiruline from the CMSC of Ouagadougou are within the interval of values of the international firm Green Flamant [11] and its physicochemical elements do not change with time (p > 0.270).
The results of this study prompted us to continue the culture of Spiruline in the CMSC of Ouagadougou in order to utilize the biochemical composition and the beneficial action of this cyanobacterium, which may be considered an alimentary integrator for undernourished children.
