Passau University has five faculties: the Faculty of Catholic Theology, the Faculty of Economics, the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, and the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science.
Central institutions of the university are the University Library which consists of the central library, and the libraries of the individual faculties with around 1.8 million items, plus the Center for Language Studies, the Center for Statistics and the Sports Center.
Passau University also has the Institute of East Bavarian Local Studies, the Institute of the History of New Psychology, the Institute of Agricultural Law and the Institute of International and Foreign Law, all with their particular fields of research interest.
