Signally complementary, the work and studies performed by the companies and research laboratories of the University of Poitiers, the CNRS and the BRGM have a double objective: optimize the management of our water resources, and attend to their quality.
Conducted by two start-up companies, Technavox and Microprotec, and also by the chemistry laboratories of the University of Poitiers and the CNRS, the work has essentially to do with depollution of industrial liquid effluents and surfaces sullied by hydrocarburates.

  Poitiers
As early as 312 the Bishop of Poitiers established a school near his cathedral; among its scholars were St. Hilary, St. Maxentius, Bishop Maximus of Trier, and his two brothers St. Maximinus of Chinon and St. John of Marne, St. Paulinus, Bishop of Trier, and the poet Ausonius.
Charles VII erected a university at Poitiers, in opposition to Paris, where the majority of the faculty had hailed Henry VI of England, and by Bull of 28 May, 1431, Eugene IV approved the new university.
The neighbourhood of Poitiers was the scene of two famous battles, that of October, 732, in which Charles Martel defeated Abd-el-Raman and definitively saved France from Saracen invasion, and that of September, 1356, in which the King of France, John II, the Good, was made prisoner by the English.

On January 23, 2006, the first Confucius Institute in France, Poitiers University Confucius Institute officially began its elementary Chinese class and series of talks about Chinese culture.
The Confucius Institute simultaneously started classes in other colleges of the Poitiers University, and 3 Chinese language classes targeted to colleges, society and business in the neighboring Chateauroux.
It is said the institute and the Poitiers city government are planning a large-scale Chinese cultural fair in the coming May.
