Students who have been accepted at the University of Latvia should notify the International Office by June 30 of their intention to live in the University dormitory, otherwise the University can not guarantee accommodation there because the possibilities are very limited.
With Latvia regaining freedom the Supreme Council of the Republic of Latvia confirmed the Constitution of the University of Latvia on September 18, 1991.
Alongside with the Constitution the flag, the hymn, the University emblem, the Rector's chain and the official garments for the Rector, prorectors and deans were renewed as attributes of the University of Latvia.

An agreement to establish a UNITWIN network among five European universities to promote wise coastal practices was signed by representatives of the universities involved (University of Aveiro, Portugal; University of Bologna, Italy; University of Cadiz, Spain; University of Riga, Latvia; Russian State Hydrometeorological University, St. Petersburg, Russia) in August 2002.

At the NIT '95: The 8th International Conference on New Information Technology in Riga, Latvia on November 23-25, 1995, two papers were presented on the states of the arts of academic networking and library technology use at the Riga Technical University (RTU).
RTU was the first of the Baltic universities to accept this kind of project, which includes the creation and use of students' register, enrollment, staff's register, teaching board, finance and other databases applied in net-work regime with multiple accesses.

Since the Riga Polytechnic remained closed after the Easter break of 1905, several friends and I decided to spend the summer semester in Germany.
Almost every Sunday one went on excursions, partly from the university to Heilbronn, Ludwigshafen; partly with friends to Frankfurt, Hart, Wiesbaden, Schwetzingen, or in the closer surroundings, Konigsstuhl, etc. We were at the castle almost daily.
When in the fall the technical university of Riga was still closed, I was finally able to persuade father that I should move to Germany to study metallurgy in Freiberg (where I had already wanted to go two years earlier).

Visiting Australia for appearances in Sydney, the Gaudeamus Male Choir from the Technical University of Riga made a detour to give one recital in Melbourne, on Sunday afternoon, presenting a program of catch-all components at the city's Lutheran church.
The afternoon's first half ended with Martins Brauns' Dream about Riga, a piece written for the recent 800th anniversary of the Latvian capital and, if unremarkable melodically, a competent example of a genre that can generate the predictably awful; Amigos para siempre springs to mind.
This work, which was repeated for patriotic purposes, provided an up-to-date sample of the generous if melancholy strain colouring the program's selections from the country's most outstanding writers.
