University of Santo Tomas (UST) received the biggest trophy of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) in last night’s Annual Awards, the umpteenth time the Tigers emerged overall champion of the 68-year-old league.
University of the Philippines (UP) took over as second in the general standings, though it was a close one over De La Salle.
UST swept table tennis and taekwondo and topped men’s badminton and women’s chess, judo and swimming in highlighting another remarkable season of the country’s most prestigious collegiate league.

UST sustained its invincibility all over the net to pull off a 3-0 sweep over Ateneo and University of the East on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, while reigning titlist De La Salle University won against University of the East and University of the Philippines.
University of Santo Tomas showed its tremendous force in tennis by registering twin victory in the opening day of the 67th Universities Athletics Association of the Philippines tennis team event at the Yñarez Socio-Civic Cultural Center in Pasig City.

    Pope Leo XIII made the University of Santo Tomas a "Pontifical University" on September 17, 1902 and in 1974, Pope Pius XII bestowed upon it the title of "The Catholic University of the Philippines".

Upon my ordination, I was assigned at the Convent of Santo Domingo, Quezon City until my assignment at the Convent of Saint John Lateran, Manila and my succeeding appointment as Vice-Rector for Religious Affairs of the Colegio de San Juan de Letran, Manila in 1987.
In 1989, I was designated as Vice-Rector for Financial Affairs (Treasurer) of the institution until 1999.
