The Ozarks (also referred to as the Ozark Mountains or the Ozark Plateau) is a physiographic, geologic and cultural highland region of the central United States.
The Ozark Highland area, the Ouachita Mountains of Arkansas and Oklahoma, and the Black Hills of South Dakota are the only major highland regions in the U.S. between the Appalachians and the Rocky Mountains.
The Lake of the Ozarks and Truman Lake in the northern Ozarks were formed by damming the Osage River in 1931 and 1979 respectively.

The Ozarks Celebration Festival is an entertaining and educational look at the region's culture and heritage.

For seventy-seven years Hurie Hall stood proudly on the University of the Ozarks campus in Clarksville, Arkansas.
Trying to satisfy the University's requirements, and keeping in mind the place Hurie held in everyone's heart, University officials and the architects decided to build a new building in the same architectural style as Hurie Hall, which would house the communications program and the teacher education department.
