Students in the year-long program were pulled out of the country in April, just as their semester was ending, in response to a March 23 State Department warning.

Girlie took up a course on computer at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) - Technical School.  Her interest in photography, German and French languages and architecture  also brought her to some formal classes on the said disciplines.
In particular, she took some architectural courses at the Technological University of the Philippines and business administration courses at the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila.
