Unreal II: The Awakening - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Unreal II: The Awakening is a first-person shooter computer game, designed initially only for a single-player campaign.
It is set in a different part of the universe to Unreal; according to the Epic timeline is set somewhere in or before the year 2251, whether it is a true prequel or sequel is debated as there is conflicting evidence.
Unreal II was developed by the now defunct Legend Entertainment, published by Atari and released on February 4, 2003 for Microsoft Windows.

Unreal II: The Awakening Xbox review at games xtreme
Unreal II was a fairly good game back in the day, around 2002 or so, I can't really say much about this new release apart from it looks horrible compared to its PC counterpart and highly dated.
Very linear in its approach, Unreal II has been stripped down SP wise for the console and instead of being a souped up conversion from the PC, its been cut so badly in places that the gameplay differs from its big brother, to its detriment.
Unreal II on the XBox is a let down in SP and passable as a distraction in MP.

Featuring Unreal 2: The Awakening Review at ActionTrip
The original Unreal was such a campaign - it was gorgeous to look at, the weaponry was difficult to master, and the story was gripping, engaging, and took a good long time to play to completion.
Unreal II utilizes the same graphics engine as Unreal Tournament 2003 (compliments of Epic), which, if you read our preview, has been toned for single-player gaming.
Unreal 2 is still an entertaining game, but it's way too simplistic and "old school" to live up to today's single player FPS standards.

Unreal Tournament 2004 (and 2003) are used by numerous industry publications and websites as benchmarks for PC system capabilities.
Unreal Engine gameplay network programming is high-level and data-driven, allowing UnrealScript game code to specify variables and functions to be replicated between client and server to maintain a consistent approximation of game state.
Unreal Tournament 2004 is no exception, with full server and client support for both Linux and Macintosh's OS X. Unreal Engine 2 is also already compatible with next-generation operating systems such as 64-bit Windows and 64-bit Linux.

Game Over Online Magazine - Unreal II: The Awakening
When Unreal came out in 1998, everyone was awe-struck that finally, there was an equal contender to id Software's near monopoly of the first-person shooter genre.
Legend, the creators of the underrated Wheel of Time, proceeded to instil a story into Unreal II and they turned the pseudo multiplayer and single player romp of Unreal into a star faring story of a law enforcement marshal with the Terran Colonial Authority, an organization that is a notch lower than the military marines.
When you put Unreal II on the scale, it weighs quite similar to Unreal Tournament 2003 and its improvements on its predecessor.
