 VH1.com : Unsane : Biography - Urge Music Downloads
As a power trio, Unsane relied upon a hammering, power-press rhythm section, a searing Telecaster howl, and distorted vocals that resembled nothing if not the sound of a man trapped in the New York Subway system.
Unsane piqued the interest of numerous small indie labels and began issuing a series of singles and EPs before recording their self-titled debut with Matador Records.
During 1992, Unsane's daunting schedule was cut devastatingly short by the untimely drug overdose of drummer Charles Ondras.

 Unsane live at Universalbuzz.com!!!
Unsane and their late 80’s contemporaries like Helmet, Surgery and, yes, Nirvana, came of age in an anti-metal, heavy-guitar tradition that was as inspired by Black Flag as Black Sabbath.
In a move that became a trademark of Unsane’s anti-image image, the sleeve-art on the single caused an uproar outside of Underground circles (Mom and Dad), for depicting San Francisco’s controversial Zodiac Killer.
Unsane then recorded what has become their almost mythical first album for an Indie called Circuit, who then refused to release it (or give the master tapes up to the band).

Unsane --- Official Relapse Records Band Page
UNSANE's cold, ugly urban synthesis of screaming, distorted vocal howls, gargantuan bass, strangled guitar wranglings and regimented drum assault paved the way for countless others to follow.
Occupational Hazard (their fourth full-length release) cemented the band's status as legends in the indie rock scene, and as the pillar of the international noise rock movement.
With their patented and oft-copied blend of volume, velocity, and violence, UNSANE have continuously taken their art to new levels of extremity.

Since 1988, New York's Unsane have blazed a trail through conventional hard music, and in turn influenced Quicksand, Therapy?, 16, and a host of others who - to varying degrees of success - have widened that trail to the size of an expressway over the past decade.
Fortunately for the masses, main Unsane Chris Spencer has seen fit to regroup, retool, and revive Unsane for yet one more trinitarian assault on all that is bright and smiling.
This time around, Unsane has seen fit to let most of the melody rest until the epic dirge of 'Dead Weight' gives last rites over Blood Run with creeping basslines and guitars that create a musical precipice inched along by vocals that seem almost an afterthought.

So on trudges Unsane on a hot afternoon in Florida to display something I am prepared to be one of the scariest experiences of my life.
Wisely, I think the band realized that the scary gig loses its menace when the hour is closer to noon than midnight.
Unsane has canceled, by my estimation, two highly-publicized shows in the Orlando area in the past years.

UNSANE CRISIS starts off in the beginning 2000 when three survivors of Madrid’s extreme underground scene (Ramón from Looking for an Answer, J.Oliver from Wormed and Phlege from Wormed / Godüs) meets with the insane Sergio (a.k.a.
Flipax) to continue the legacy of scorn and refusal of the pathetic musical community towards that way of noise which stimulates and strains their minds: Grindcore, a way that has been blamed, refused, despised and ignored for years in their filth state by the bastards of a liar elite known as “scene”.
Aside all that, UNSANE CRISIS’ proposal was offering another alternative to mediocrity and human stupidity through a blasting and psychosocial Grindcore form influenced by bands suck as early Napalm Death, Terrorizer, Brutal Truth, Assück or Discordance Axis, always from a true underground way.

My production company, MBS Productions, was responsible for the success of the Unsane’s last video so naturally their new label Relapse asked us to do the next one.
All the Unsane’s album covers have some kind of bloody horrible thing happening, either a blood soaked car or mattress or even a bathtub filled with blood.
We were sort of up against a wall because we wanted to get the video done before the Unsane returned from tour, so we piled into the same car with the same folks and went off to spray more blood.

Unsane - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Unsane is a New York City rock music trio, formed in 1988.
Unsane was formed in 1989 by singer/guitarist Chris Spencer, bass guitarist Pete Shore and drummer Charlie Ondras.
In the early 1990s, Unsane was part of a scene of loud, noisy, like-minded rock groups in New York City's East Village, often playing concerts with bands like Pussy Galore, Cop Shoot Cop, Surgery, Helmet and the Reverb Motherfuckers (Unsane's first show was as the opening act for the Reverb Motherfuckers).

Unsane: Blood Run - PopMatters Music Review
Unsane remains one of the lone torchbearers of this raw, dirty sound, returning in fine form from a seven-year recording hiatus with Blood Run.
Unsane came from the same fertile late '80s, early '90s New York noise rock scene that yielded bands like Sonic Youth, Helmet, Cop Shoot Cop, Surgery, and the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion.
Unsane's sound has largely remained unchanged through the years, except for tighter performances and better production on later albums.

Unsane, however, is nowhere near ready to compromise the extreme, bleak noise rock they've gnashed out since 1991.
Rather, Unsane channelled all of their frustration and disaffection into creating some of the most compellingly demented music ever recorded, propelled by a succession of punishing rhythms and throat-ripping screams.
I remember when I first discovered Unsane years ago...it was the album cover photo on "Total Destruction" that lured me in like a fish on a hook.

Unsane are one of the pioneers of extreme, noisy, ugly, pounding hard rock fused with the more brutal elements of metal.

Unsane upped the ante on the paradigm for abrasive noise rock.
But it is precisely that idiosyncratic twang audible over the wail and wallop that elevates Unsane debut into such audacious and cutting-edge territory.
Unsane contains none of the pose and posture many New York acts have traditionally been known for, in fact, far from it.

In 1992, a friend organized an Unsane show at bar in New Jersey, but a blizzard began the night before and lasted until about noon that day, so attendance was sparse.
Live, besides the sheer brutality, I was struck by the gnarly, distorted vocals of guitarist Chris Spencer and the chaotic, body-shot drums of Charles Ondras.
And in the end, as in the beginning, the lack of a sneak-attack and attendant shock/awe spells death for a band whose relevance hinges on arriving like a 2 a.m., tooth-chipping sucker punch.

A limited-edition, semi-legit 7" compiled of some of the tracks from the aborted Circuit album was released by a relative of the band, and an additional PCP 7" split between the Unsane and Slug (featuring the bands covering each others songs), were released in 1992.

From the blood-soaked crime scene photos that adorn the sleeves of its releases to the unmitigated aggression of its sonic attack, New York's Unsane spends most of its time on the "wrong" side of the tracks separating mere catharsis from genuine menace.
Metalheads and hardcore punks alike might find varying degrees of satisfaction in the grinding gears of the Unsane machine, but you'd be hard-pressed to fit the band — especially the early singles compiled on 89-92 (red-river bathtub) — into a genus with nearly as much socially redeeming value as either of those.
After parting ways with Matador, Unsane cast its lot with Amphetamine Reptile's hatecore HQ for Scattered, Smothered and Covered.

Perhaps one can tell the degree to which The Categorical Imperative (Oedipus based taboos) hold sway over individuals or whole societies by the degree to which curiosity is not expressed very much.
Whereas the predominant "masculine" expression of societal order might be the grinding mechanics of The Categorical Imperative ("submit yourself to the machine or else"), the basis for the "feminine" resides more predominantly in treating every little manifestation of self expression as if it threatened to be a dropped stitch in the social fabric.
Oh-- but perhaps the Modernists are only inadvertently Kantian -- it is doubtful that the state of their psyches are caused by much beyond constant exposure to a Modernist industrialising process, which is a kind of violence in itself.

Blood Run administers immeasurable amounts of the band's unequalled combination of blood, guts and violence as vocalist/guitarist Chris Spencer's scraping guitar work and vocal angst is cemented by a pounding rhythm section and domineering air of volatile aggressiveness.
