 GigaSpaces - Enterprise Data Grid
The Data Grid is built for the most demanding business-critical applications, and utilizes the underlying resiliency features of the Enterprise Application Grid such as clustering, replication, fail-over and load-balancing to ensure data availability and coherence even in the most challenging environments.
This distributed object store can manage a virtually endless amount of in-memory data, effectively bounded only by the amount of combined available physical memory on all of the machines on which the Enterprise Application Grid is running - and with new machines being able to be dynamically added, this effectively creates a limitless RAM.
Object-data in the Data Grid can be queried through a standard JDBC interface using standard SQL queries.

Modelling Semantic Grid Knowledge Embedded in Documents
Using well-assessed Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning methodologies and techniques, our goal is to acquire and organize the information stored in the Grid, where this information is supposed to be represented in unstructured documents.
The growing success of Grid technologies inside scientific communities has produced an increasing need for the development of tools and methodologies able to support knowledge sharing and handling among people, built upon the Grid.
In this paper we propose an original approach to the development of a system for the creation of the Knowledge Layer of the Semantic Grid, that is, the layer which carries the informative content that the community shares.

 Geometry in Action: Mesh Generation
One distinguishes "structured" and "unstructured" meshes by the way the elements meet; a structured mesh is one in which the elements have the topology of a regular grid.
Unstructured meshes are often computed using quadtrees, or by Delaunay triangulation of point sets; however there are quite varied approaches for selecting the points to be triangulated.

 Mesh Generation
A structured mesh is usually a warped grid of boxes, while an unstructured mesh is typically a triangulation.
A mesh generator has to ``parse'' the domain, which is hard to accomplish unless the grid generator is intimately tied to the systems used to represent the geometry.
Structured meshes are currently more popular, but unstructured are catching up, especially in the more academically-inclined community.

There are currently underway six (6) general purpose, scalable CFD software projects based on variations of the three general types of gridding methods used to represent complex flow geometry: the rectilinear structured grid, the scalable unstructured grid, and the local block structured/overset grid.
CFD is used for basic studies of fluid dynamics, for engineering design of complex flow configurations, and for predicting the interactions of chemistry with fluid flow for combustion and propulsion.
Fluid dynamics itself displays some very complex physics, such as boundary-layer flows, transition to turbulence, and turbulence dynamics, that require continued scientific research.

If one expects a solution to change rapidly in a certain region but remain smooth in another, one wants more grid points in the region of rapid change and fewer in the smooth region, in order to do not much more work than is needed to get the answer to the desired accuracy.
