Anyway, this all leads us to Untilted, the eighth album in the Autechre canon and one that should please all those looking for their customary blend of bizarrely arranged bleeps, sweeps, and creeps.
Despite occasionally bringing in sounds somewhat similar to the dronings on an MRI machine, Untilted is a surpisingly musical release, occasionally managing to sound catchy even amidst a flurry of determinedly abstract time signatures and song structures.
The former erupts with a thunderous pounding of drums (be careful for your speakers, or eardrums, on this one) while recordings of crowd noises and the clipped dialogue of a man's voice broadcasts amongst the chaos.

UNTILTED (2005) bears many of the sonic hallmarks of that album (namely the highly processed, digitized quality of the sound), but there is something new here as well.
UNTILTED is more up-tempo than much of Autechre's previous work.
There is an escalation of BPMs (beats per minute) that at times seems to approximate house or drum-and-bass, as on "Ipacial Section" and "Augmatic Disport." Yet the best way to listen to Autechre is still on a pair of high-end headphones, not on the dance floor.

 AUTECHRE Untilted
With Untilted, Autechre continue to push the boundaries of their sonic experimentations forward as they assemble forever more intricate and unusual beat structures and sonic constructions, relentlessly pushing their audience into darker, more remote corners.
Whereas Confield and Draft 7.30 appeared to some too hermetic and distant, as lost in clouds of abstraction, Untilted unveils a series of varied soundscapes draped around often prominent melodic structures.
Untilted is, above all, one of Autechre’s most perfect records to date.

I didn't think much of the Untilted disc, but when Ae played some tracks live, either the transition to the live environment helped or the tracks just lose character from being compressed onto a CD.
and on the topic of the live show after untilted, yeah, i saw it at webster hall in nyc and the sound quality was unbelievable.
Draft 7.30 and Untilted are definitely harder to listen to - esp Draft 7.30, which gave me a bit of a headache the first time I heard it all the way through.

Autechre : Untilted - Listen, Review and Buy at ARTISTdirect   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-30)
After pursuing their theories of digital noise down a rabbit hole for several years, they returned to what had made their name with an uncharacteristically bright record in 2003 (Draft 7.30) and a continuation of that sound with 2005's Untilted.
Booth and Brown work more with discernible drum samples here, compared to their prior focus on metalloid beats, and they have also rediscovered the value of pausing slightly before the digital merry-go-round begins another circuit.
Close to 15-years after their formation, Autechre certainly aren't launching any new styles, and there's no innovative music to be heard here, but Untilted does represent the duo returning to the green fields of their youth after a few years sowing their wild oats.

I got that with a few albums but mostly the change in listening prespective was due to experience enchancements.
The first leaked copy was actually music by another artist trying to dupe people and then in the end promote his own music.
fwiw, untilted and the live show for that tour, was the best thing they've done in quite some time (imo).

 AUTECHRE, Untilted
Just remember – this is music for playing LOUD, stick to this single principle and this album will mess with your mind, limbs and stomach in ways you’ll have almost forgotten.
“Untilted” is a gargantuan, banging beast - their finest material since the seminal LP5, and that really is saying something.

Drowned in Sound - Reviews - Album - Autechre
It was almost as if a cap of fabric softener had been added to the wash. With 'Untilted', Autechre have returned to dirtier, familiar territory, and, best of all, have returned with an album that crackles and pops over the course of its near 70 minute journey.
Opener ‘LCC’ bursts from the speakers after ten seconds of silence with sonic loop after sonic loop entering the fray, before an electro-funk detour complete with brooding waves slows the pace down to a giddy close.
Like any Autechre album, it takes more than just a casual listen to really connect with what’s being thrown at you from the speakers, but exploration into their world is certainly a rewarding journey and 'Untilted' is just that.

'Untilted' continues to push the boundaries of sonic experimentation, but also hits straight between the eyes with a raw, almost live-in-the-room immediacy.
No need to think about this one, it's essential!
