The federal government is currently developing ways to support informed driving choices and encourage state and local agencies to provide information on the alternative transportation options available to seniors who can no longer safely drive or are not comfortable driving in certain conditions, such as at night or in poor weather.
The Coordinating Council on Access and Mobility is uniquely positioned to provide a forum for such a coordinated effort because all of the federal agencies that administer the key programs we identified are members, and many of these agencies are involved in the council's efforts to improve mobility for all transportation-disadvantaged populations.

That Government may find itself in the embarrassing position of having to reduce power prices at some point in the future from the level at which it negotiated contracts, which will be a continuing drain on the Victorian taxpayers, as were the Victorian Government's follies in the past few years.

Besides, the government is so prone to doing a crappy job—no matter how much cash they confiscate from our wallets to fund their endeavors.
I suspect that if the government had interjected themselves into the recording industry like they have the broadcast business that we’d still be enjoying songs on vinyl records and listening to the lovely “clunk” of the track change on an 8 track player.
Instead, the government by and large stayed the hell out of the record business and as a result we’ve seen gigantic improvements in the quality of the audio sound we listen to in our cars and homes.

In Paris, some 900 FPM activists staged a demonstration at Chatelet Square to demand the withdrawal of the Syrian army from Lebanon in conformity with UN resolution 520, which stipulates for the pullout of all foreign armies.
In France also, 110 French parliament members have already signed a petition which asks the government to put pressure on Syria to make it comply with the UN resolution number 520 and make it withdraw its 35,000 troops from Lebanon.

Crown Council President Prince Ermias Sahle-Selassie Haile-Selassie, who was returning from a diplomatic trip to three Caribbean nations on May 8, said that the momentum toward national unity and progress on human rights issues in Ethiopia was being halted by the policies of the Addis Ababa administration.
The UK Government, which had said that the Meles administration’s record on human rights was improving because of the release in December of Dr Asrat Woldeyes, noted that conditions had not, in fact, improved.

NORTH CAROLINA CONFERENCE ON AGING The Annual Summer Symposium and the Annual Conference sponsored by the Division of Aging are merging into a new North Carolina Conference on Aging to be held in the fall of 2002.

This successful collaboration between Cabarrus County government, the Cabarrus County Fair, Cabarrus County Schools, Kannapolis City Schools, Cabarrus Soil and Water Conservation, Cabarrus Agribusiness Council, Cooperative Extension and many others enabled youth to expand their understanding of basic concepts related to soils, water, air, animals and how human interactions influence all of this.
Partnerships are win-win for everyone, and we thank Cabarrus County government and the county commissioners for their strong partnership with N.C. State University and N.C. AandT State University.
Paul Black, associate director of planning and development services for the Upper Coastal Plain Council of Governments, said the partnership has collaborated with several two-year institutions, and this is way to bridge the connection with four-year institutions.

 NC Southern Coastal Plain Ground Water Study
As revealed in previous USGS/LRCOG ground-water studies, water levels in the Black Creek and upper Cape Fear aquifers have declined steadily in some areas as the amount of water pumped from these aquifers has increased with economic and agricultural growth.
Between 1992 and 1998, water-level declines of 117 feet were observed in the upper Cape Fear aquifer in Bladen County.
To continue monitoring water-level fluctuations in the Black Creek and upper Cape Fear aquifers in Bladen, Hoke, Robeson, and Scotland Counties; and to extend monitoring into Columbus and Sampson Counties for ground-water-level fluctuations in the Peedee, Black Creek, and upper Cape Fear aquifers.
