The Upper Makefield Zoning Hearing Board, however, determined "Upper Makefield Township is not within the path of urban and suburban growth." This assessment, supported by briefs filed in support of Upper Makefield, argues that the Surrick analysis is inappropriately applied to Dolington.
Thus, since Upper Makefield Township is not considered to be in the path of suburban growth, the township, as part of the jointure, is not required to increase the amount of land zoned for multiple-family housing.

 Washington Crossing Toll Supported Bridge
A replacement bridge was constructed shortly thereafter and it remained in service until the superstructure was carried away by the flood of October 10, 1903.
