In 2002, the species was discussed during reviews of major county projects, including Philadelphia Suburban Water Co.’s (now Aqua Pennsylvania) plan to pipe up to 4 million gallons of water a day from the Brandywine Creek into Wallace’s Cornog Quarry, because the habitat of the bog turtle is often threatened by changes in the landscape.
